Artwork Description
This striking, independent portrait of Jesus Christ represents a powerful fusion of stark realism, structural mixed-media, and interactive light installation. Executed on the artist’s signature 80x60 cm canvas, the piece utilizes a high-contrast black-and-white acrylic palette for the face, channeling a timeless, dramatic chiaroscuro that emphasizes solemnity, grace, and human endurance. Breaking out of the two-dimensional plane, the artwork physically ruptures into the viewer's space through intense textural interventions. The crown of thorns is sculpted out of heavy modeling paste, and meticulously embedded with bamboo toothpicks used as thorns to create a brutal, tactile reality of the passion. Painted in a striking, ethereal yellow ochre, the crown houses an integrated LED light system. When illuminated, it radiates a brilliant glow from within the thorns— a visceral visual metaphor for the Holy Spirit, proving that even in the darkest moments of suffering, divine light shines through. Descending from the crown are thick, threedimensional drops of blood, meticulously sculpted from modeling paste. Painted in a rich, visceral crimson, the blood is infused with fine red glitter. This deliberate choice creates a brilliant, unexpected refraction of light—a "special spark" that elevates the blood from a symbol of mere tragedy into a divine, shimmering testament to sacred sacrifice and redemption.
